avatar Info about Kamal Siegel

Thanks for visiting my profile. As you probably already know, my name is Kamal Siegel and I'm the owner and founder of Digital DNA.

My purpose in creating this space is to increase the exchange of knowledge between industry leaders in the fields of digital arts and animation; and to also establish a dialogue between the scientific and artistic communities therein. I strongly believe that it's when these two come together that we make the greatest advances in our field. My experience has shown time and again that if we continue to endorse the idea of creating code and creating art in isolation of each other we end up with an incongruent whole that is neither compelling nor immersive to the viewer. I've been incredibly fortunate to work with talented programmers (Justin Mann, Jason Sandlin, Nick Saggall, Michael Lyons, to name a few) throughout my career who continue to confirm this belief and I think it's time to share that with the greater CG community.

As for me, I've been working in the graphic arts industry since 1998 and have spent the latter part of my career focusing on running my own film & gaming production house called Digital Double. I also stay active in the local art scene by exhibiting my artwork, curating shows, and teaching Maya, basic drawing and cartooning courses in various locations. I'm also an active volunteer for local events and I take joy in helping build community. Most recently, I completed a 3 year term as a member of the Redmond Arts Commission ( a body of nine individuals appointed by the Mayor) and was honored to be part of founding the first Digital Arts in Redmond (www.redmondartsfestival.com).

I look forward to sharing more about these new developments in the coming months and years. So register, stay in touch and let me know if you have any suggestions for improving this community website.
